Well here we are again. Summer’s starting to poke it’s nose outdoors and everything looks a little bit better thanks to a wee tentative bit of sunshine. Which stands in stark contrast to a lot of stuff that seems to be happening right now. Factor in the delights of mobile phones, 24hr news broadcasts, black berries and you’d be forgiven for feeling a little….errr….fractured. And this is where we come in…well….us and the mightily inspirational Mr Stewart Brand, philosopher, iconoclast and Man for Our Times( google him….he‘s a one man miracle!!). In uncertain times, the Known is not merely an expression of ease, but also of deep comfort and assurance…and that’s why this season we’ve taken refuge in the known and the familiar…and also in the little things that lift life out of the ordinary.
For us, Summer is all about taking time to lay the table with the most delicious linen…even if you are only having fish fingers and chips, lighting candles in the tree whilst sitting on a garden bench covered in soul-nurturing pure linen cushions and looking at the stars, using the most deliciously scented organic bath and home products at every given opportunity, sleeping soundly in the best bed linen you can lay your hands on, taking inspiration from classically, effortlessly chic French interiors, choosing and using things that really do make us feel better and feeding our Souls all at the same time. Because change is good…and taking comfort in the past is good too, faster/cheaper isn’t really better than slower/better and because the only thing that really matters in all this is you and the home you live in…..Have a great Summer!!!
